How to seal a shower base and or tub without an integral tile flange

Installation Instructions

The sealing of the surface has already been done with Jaeger USA’s waterproofing membrane.

Determine the intended final position of the shower or bathtub.  Mark 3 inches above the tub rim.

Use regular sealing tape to hold Jaeger USA Joint Sealing Tape in place.

The tape can now adhere to the underlying surface with a cementitious polymer adhesive or ASTM C920 Silicone Sealant to ensure a watertight seal.

Next, attach the Joint Sealing Tape strip that faces the bathtub which will later come into contact with the wall.

Leave at least ¼ inch space to the upper edge for the ASTM C920 Silicone Sealant.

To firmly connect the tape with the shower tray and tub area, fill the gap with an ASTM C920 Silicone Sealant.

The silicone strip enables a very strong connection to an approved ASTM C920 silicone sealant adhesive. Smooth the silicone sealant so that it is level with the tub.

You can now start tiling and finish the job.
